Great Milestone on Internet : 100 million websites

A great milestone was achieved in October this year. The Internet now has 100 million websites with domain names and content. Among them more then 47-48 million websites are actively updated.

This information comes from NetCraft, an Internet monitoring company since 1995. At that time, there were only around 18,000 websites. The number of sites grew to 50 million sites only as late as 2004.

Now, with an added vigour due to blogging as well as many websites making money out of it, that number has increased dramatically to 100 million now.
