Indian meteor hit caused Dinosaur extinction
A team of German scientists have concluded that a meteor that hit India more than 65 million years ago caused the extinction of the Dinosaurs. According to them, the meteor, named Shiva ( the Hindu god of destruction) by one of the scientists hit the Indian plateau. This coincided with a million year long volcanic eruptions along the Deccan Basalt region. The huge efflux of greenhouse gases during this period caused the death of the dinosaurs.
Earlier, it was believed that a meteor hit in Mexico was responsible for the huge animals of the 'Jurassic Park'.
