India's New Year Wishlist

As 2006 draws to a close, it is time for India to sit up and get ready for all that awaits it in the new year.

For one, the most exciting that all Indians are waiting for is the Cricket World cup at West Indies. Man, this is the last world cup for Sachin, Rahul and Saurav(if ever he remains till then, that is..). I definitely would want Sachin to go out as a satisfied man when he retires, and that will not be unless he wins this cup for India. Okay, all this is in March.

This apart, there is something upcoming which all Indians are looking forward to. That's the Chandrayaan, India's first indigenous attempt to launch a SV onto the moon. Considering that things like Nuclear tests, Space launches etc make other countries sit and take notice more than things like poverty reduction. However, there already seems to be a delay. The website for Chandrayaan now says that the launch is going to be either in 2007 or 2008. Anyway, I would want to see the launch successful, no longer how much it is delayed.

The third wishlist is the "Mission 2007" plan to create 25,000 knowledge centers all over India through connecting 25K villages. That seems vague even to me, but anyway, all the best India for this.
