YouTube - Invention of the year

YouTube, online video sharing website that was recently acquired by Google has been named the 'invention of the year'. What shot the website into such a prominence was its ability to suddenly catapult amateur home video makers into celebrities to enjoy their fifteen minutes of fame.

YouTube was founded by Stan, Hurley and Jawad Karim and shot into such a prominence, that there arose a lot many clones, including Google coming out with their own Videos, before acquiring the founder of such a service.
