Finally, the Finals
Even this statement has been made a lot many times..that this has to be the longest and most boring world cups.
But then, ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 has had its bit of happiness, sorrow, anxiety, thrill etc..India and Pakistan - the suppliers of more than 80 percent of the cricket 'followership' in the world; both knocked out of the tournament in the first two weeks. The world cup has hence been muted in the subcontinent. Bob Woolmer's death is still investigated and hopefully we find the murderers very soon. Inzy's tearful farewell will always be remembered. Malinga's never-before 4 wickets in 4 balls takes the ruling roost. South Africa still ARE chokers. Australia look forward to their 4th world cup title, and third in three tournaments.
Overall, though boring, it has been nothing short of news over the past one and a half months. It is finally the finals today. Sri Lanka takes on Australia. I am rooting for the Sri Lankans..In fact, the whole world except down under is doing the same..Noone wants the arrogant, yet hard-working Aussies to win yet another time...This world cup will be best remembered for the havoc minnows caused over worthier opponents. Let the final be befitting as well...
