MyLot.com ripoff

It is amazing as to how websites try and rip off visitors under the aegis of paying money to do anything silly on the internet.

MyLot.com is a forums website that claims to pay money for simply posting on their site. This is very similar to what DigitalPoint.com did to their forums. But then, that was clearly mentioned as not paying since the beginning, and was merely to reward the loyal users.

But MyLot.com is a clear rip off, with luring visitors to post hundreds of posts everyday. I tried to venture into the site and ask the people there about their so-called success. Members were very forthcoming. One had already made $8 in "just 3 days" and her advice - 'Keep posting all day.She posts 500 odd posts everyday.

Now, what kind of bullshit was that!? 500 posts(mind you! they demad quality posts and not one liners) and $3 a day!!?

I made an attempt to bring the members there to their senses by making a thread on what a rip-off it was.

It lasted only three minutes and two replies. It had been deleted :)

I had been wondering about that site. I took a look but didn't like the feel of it all, so I left. Thanks for the head's up!

Would it be better if they didn't pay? I don't think it is supposed to replace a job, just a place to have fun and get a little extra money for doing something you would normally do for nothing. Don't be so critical of something if you haven't tried it. One post bagging on the site being a rip off and you expect it not to be deleted? They don't ask you for money, they give you money. Get off your high horse.

Hi Anonmous,

I would have been happy to address you by your name. Now, my point is about how the site is branded. It is said it is the only place on internet to pay for posting in a forum.

If it is not going to pay commensurately for getting your site grow, then you should not be luring people with the 'we pay' line.

If it is just a place to have fun, I don't think someone will actually be writing 500 posts a day to make $3. I bet MyLot would have made a lumpsome with so many trying to write so much simply to get to the target of $10 only to give up trying...

Well since you were there for hardly any time at all, how the hell would you know that they don't pay?

At November 11, 2006 , Blogger Anand said...

Please read my post before commenting. My point is that they pay, but not even remotely commensurate with what they require you to do before earning the amount.

At November 12, 2006 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I don't think that they are supposed to make it easy. The ones who post 500 a day are simply trying to make money when they should be trying to have fun. Its fun first with a little reward for your participation. Besides what are they ripping off? You don't have to pay to join and if you don't want to participate then don't. Would you approve my comment if I called you a homo? You would delete it, right? Well what would you expect mylot to do if you bash them on their own site?

Hey people.

Just a comment. anonymous guy, calm down buddy. XooX is just making a point that for the amount of time u spend, the equivalent amount of money you get is pitiful.

Generally, that would be called a Ripoff!

He's just warning people of the site, that if they DO decide to try and make money on MyLot, they are in for a long night.

I've been a member of Mylot for 2 months now and have made almost $200. You won't get rich, but it isn't a rip off. There are no get rich quick schemes out there. Don't expect millions over night or it ia a ripoff. I give Mylot.com 2 thumbs up. It's fun, thought-provoking and I get a little bit of money for my efforts.

I'm on mylot, it was great at first. It was easy to make money by submitting quality responses.
Slowly everything changed when they started changing their "look". Now there is so much censorship that if you do try to get into a quality discussion it might get deleted if some Muslim posts a death treat below you because he is intolerant and does not agree with your OPINION.
Now it's to the point that the only way to make any money there is to start stupid topics or post "Yes" or "No" answers.
Now it's just an imitation community where you never know what to say because you are afraid someone will disagree with you and report you.
Even my mail gets censored to where I can't exchange reg. email with my friends before I leave the place.

I've been with Mylot for a couple of months now and make approximately $50 pm on it. I refuse to spend all my time there, I just pop on for 15 minutes at a time when I can but the big difference for me was putting my referral link on my website, With a good number of referrals all posting occasionally, the money becomes perfectly decent for a small amount of work. I think these sites are what you make of them, they aren't 'jobs' they are forums that just happen to return a few pence for your effort. I'm not turning my nose up at $50 a month for something I used to do on Yahoo Answers and not get anything for at all!

Hey no offense anonymous, but I tried to read some of the posts on that site , I REALLY tried, but the lack of spelling, grammar and overall intelligence made my eyes bleed. As easy as it would be to just post whatever 500 times a day, I don't want to lower myself back down to the level of incoherant internet newb. I'm sorry, but it was just way too painful the first time around. I went to school to avoid people like that.

In any case, the paid referrals are a huge indication that this site is trying to be something it's not- a good site. Myspace, YouTube and Wikipedia are good sites. myLot is a waste of time.

I have been a member of mylot for 8 months now and made a decent amount of money just from posting. I start good discussions and make quality answers and that is what earns the money for me. Okay so it is for a 3 or so hours a day and I make just over $100/month with no referrals to boost that. The yes and no answers and spammers are deleted. I don't go as much now because I do not like the new layout and all the changes. I have another better site which doesn't pay anywhere near as much but the people are friendlier.

I am a member of mylot. I go there and post daily. I am not someone who spends all day there or anything. But I do make an extra $15 to $20 a month there. I have recieved monthly payments since November it being April now I really don't think Mylot is a ripoff. This month I am already at $26.98 as of today, for next months payout. This is why mylot is not a ripoff.

1. It is FREE to join.
2. I am being paid to do what millions do for free. Talk to other people.
3. It may be just cents for each post, but it adds up to dollars.
4. My earnings have bought me things I have needed.
5. There are more ways than one to earn money on mylot. You have your post, responds, tags, pictures and referrals that you earn from.
6. I spend 10 mintues here and ten minutes there, for about a total of an hour a day, and earn around a dollar a day.
7. It is a great place to network.
8. My online business has grown by 65% since being a member of mylot. Though I can't advertise in a post, when someone is looking for a rep. I can tell them I am one, and to visit my profile to go to my website.

At April 22, 2007 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

While it doesn't pay you a lot it does pay, I made over 9000 post on Yahoo answers and never earned a cent I have made a bit over 700 and will get $25, and the post are just my opinions on whatever the discussion, I do not go to mylot for the money but it is nice that I get a wee bit and in some countries $25 is a big amount a lot of our members are from 3rd world countries, and this is a small way for them to make a bit of money.

At April 25, 2007 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Only an idiot like you would make a post clearly against myLot's TOS and then whine 'ripoff' when surprise, surprise it was removed.

I get paid there every month for the last four months since I joined - no problem.

Hey i'm a member of my lot, and it is a good site, it's quality posts, and i enjoy my time there, losers who like to give one word answers soon give up and leave, because quality is what matters there, and quality pays.
It's no like other sites where all people have in forums is stupid games, like "would you slap the person above you or kiss them?" that's pathetic.
It is a site that encourages thought-provoking topics as well as lighter ones too.
It's only qualified as a rip-off if it doesn't pay or make false promises, and it doesn't do either, just because your post got deleted, boo hoo, doesn't mean you have to rat on everyone else.

Mylot has been around since Novemebr of last year. or maybe longer. I'm going by the posters date. They must be doing something right. I get paid monthly. Not alot but every little bit helps plus i have many friends there. I will stick by mylot always.

At June 17, 2007 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Actually, as someone said before, the only thing that would make it a ripoff is if it made false promises or didn't really pay.
As it is, when you sign up for Mylot, they don't tell you you'll make a lot of money. They just tell you they'll pay you to post...which they do. They also say they'll pay you for your referels, which they do.
You pay no money to join, no money to stay, yet you get paid (even if it's only a few cents) per post - something that not many message boards do. What's more, while there are a few bad posters and rule breakers - such as yourself - the quality of posts at mylot are, on average, better than any other paid to post sites I've been to.
If you're looking for a reliable income, then no, Mylot is probably not the site for you, but if your looking for a community to casually use while getting paid for using it, then Mylot is a good choice. It is not, by any means, a rip off.

I think mylot preys on loners who do not mind sitting by their computer all day long posting to make $2.

Mylot was not paying me for discussions and also did not pay me for banners it used. I contacted them about it and they cancelled my account rather than pay me.

At September 21, 2007 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Well, if you live in some remote country $20 or $30 is pretty good. Now if your from somewhere like USA, well then you would see it as spare change and not worth your time. Many people count on this site to help bring income in. Don't knock it.

I don't think it is so much that myLot is a ripoff as that people are continually trying to rip myLot off. The concept of a "quality post" on a social networking site boggles my mind, though. If people write well enough to get handsome pay for posting, trust me on this, they are doing it elsewhere. But some of us congregate on myLot in our ever present spare time just to network and get in a mood to write. I'm a compulsive writer, but sometimes I just don't feel like doing something heavy. My myLot "friends" give me ideas and my myLot "enemies" give me a reason to act on them. My advice to anyone who doesn't like myLot is simple: Don't swim in a shark pool if you don't enjoy playing with sharks.

MYlot is not a ripoff. If you had read the guidelines you would have seen that bitching about pay is a clear violation of terms. They deleted you. Boo hoo. I have chewed them out and they have not deleted me. The difference is that I did it in private contact. Mylot has been paying me a steady ten to 20 bucks a month. Sure I won't get rich on it, but it does provide enjoyment and a bit of extra cash.

Sour grapes ruin things for all of us.

You are right about it being a ripoff as to claiming you can make real money there though. Yuwie is doing the same thing in my opinion. I know someone that is on that site ALL day posting stupid graphics on people's comment wall and has been for months. She was excited because she had earned $3. FOR 3 MONTHS OF STEADY POSTING!!!!! When asked if her time was really worth so little, she looked at me like I was nuts, shook her head and goes, you are too cute. You just don't see the big picture. Okay, LOL. Anyway, good Post!!

Hey there,

I have been really down on my luck money-wise recently, with bills etc. and, getting a bit on the desperate side of things, had a look at some of these "get-rich-quick-on-the-net-schemes-with-no-catches'. I was seriously considering mylot.com, as it seemed so user-friendly and ...nice. I'm not totally naive though, and did a little research beforehand. So I, personally, am very glad of you to have posted this, albiet quite a while ago.

Very much appreciated.

You are right. Mylot is a scam and a rip off. They NEVER respond to comments and questions and in their TOS they reserve the right to ban you and delete your posts without reason. Which means you could work your ass off to make payout and be banned FOR NO REASON and lose all your money.

I've belonged to alot of discussion sites, but never one that engaged in so much censorship and thought policing. They even have built in word censors.

I was a member there for almost 18 months, and then suddenly, without warning, I was suspended. I contacted Mylot over and over, my friends contacted mylot and mylot ignored every single inquiry. My friends started discsussions asking Mylot to bring me back, but Mylot simply deleted them.

Then without reason or explanation, I was banned altogether. Mylot has yet to contact me to let me know why, but according to their TOS they don't have to. They have all the power and they could care less about their users.

Mylot is owned and operated by a Ryan Wasinger out of Overland Park KS and his number is 913 378 2062 But plan to leave messages, because he doesn't believe in returning calls.

At February 24, 2008 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I also have been a member for way over a year now,I as well had a couple of accounts banned without reason and explanation and once right before I made payout. They ban certain people for no reason but let others run rampant and be disgusting and abusive towards others.
With mylot it's all about who you know. The mods are members like everybody else, but they are not visible so you never know who might be a moderator. So if you piss one of them off they can go around deleting your stuff and even suspend you just out of spite and mylot doesn't do a damn thing about it.
They don't care about their users. we are just moneymaking machines to them.

At February 24, 2008 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I see that the moderator here only allows negative comments to be left. I see that he must have an axe to grind. I left a comment that was positive and it wasn't allowed. Now that I post this maybe the original will be allowed for some reason or another. I doubt this will make it past the moderator with the axe in his hand.

At March 02, 2008 , Blogger drAnn's ART said...

Yes, my positive comment was deleted, too. Go figure. MyLot is a GREAT social networking site and not at all a scam as anyone with 1/2 a brains should realize that members are not there for the money. The earnings are just part of the game. I use mine to buy neat stuff from the advertisers there. It is symbiotic. Go elsewhere for money but quite calling it a scam when it isn't. And if you go there FOLLOW THE RULES.

At March 24, 2008 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Ann, I FOLLOWED THE RULES. I was banned. Without warning or reason.

Their TOS state they can BAN you for NO REASON, so before you climb up too high on your horse realize that you too may be banned for NO REASON and forfeit your earnings.

Lots of good people have banned for no reason while other rule breakers get away with murder. Don't get high and mighty. Mylot is a SCAM. Period. They aren't a true discussion site because if they were they wouldn't engage in such gross censorship of thoughts and ideas. And all for a few measly pennies.

I have been a mylot member since the first month it open as I site, I am not a moderator there, nor would I want to be. But I can say this about mylot. It is quality of discussions there not quanty. I don't post every day, but the days I do, I only have to post to about 10 to 15 discussion to make $1.00. I make payout every month and have since I have been a member of that site. People get frustrated at a system they don't understand then say its a scam. I have been making money online for a while now, and mylot is a place to hang out that rewards you for your discussion. Myspace, Yearbook and other networking sites don't do that. So I make some extra money on the side, and can take my kids to McDonald's once a month on the earnings, its not much, but you will never get something for nothing, and in anything it takes time to make money, I make money everyday off my referrals even when I don't post.
There has been things I haven't agree with with mylot, some of there policies they had in the beginning, but they are a newer site and still trying to work out the details, as some of their original ideas didn't quite work out the way they had planned, but its a good site, and I will particapate in it, until, they shut down. I like it there and would even post there if they didn't pay. Its user friendly and a great place to network. I have gained customers from mylot from networking there, and I never get asked if I will show someone my boobs or if I want to see someones penis.

Well, I've been a member for three months and only made pay-out once ($15 (a DVD, yey) or so for 400 posts and 1 semi-active referral). But I wouldn't dream of leaving; it's the most interesting general forum I've become a member of.

I've had brilliant debates on there with people, made a few friends and enemies... as always. The quality of most of the discussions is top-notch, especially once you sort your interests out (most of my posts go in Thinker, Religion or People) and find the right people to follow around.

You'll never earn a living through MyLot (not if you're from a first world area), but you will make a few dollars for doing something you'd normally do online anyway... it's certainly become one of my daily sites.

Hmmm, just so I'm not a total nony (I don't have a blog) you can have my MyLot sn... and my DA, lol

I also have experienced getting posts deleted from the site. It is normal anyway especially if you post messages violating the terms of the site. If your post is deleted, it is does not mean your message is of low quality. It only means you violated some of their terms.

You get money from the site but it is not meant to replace your job.

I must admit that I earned $25 last month and $22 the month before and about $3 the previous month as I joined late in that month and did not know how myLot.com works.

I live in the United States and when things are tight, as they often are now with the higher gas and food prices, every little bit of income helps to keep me in my apartment, and helps to put food in my tummy and gas in my car.

It is best if you know that it is important to make posts of four lines or more, make a lot of friends who will post in your discussions and post in their discussions too...
Also do respond to people's posts in your discussions. It will not show up as a post in the number by your name but will give you additional income.

The other things are: forget trying to just do posts that sell products or your own website. You can do that indirectly with a bit more creativity by having that information on your webpage there or by suggesting that you have information and by private posting it to others or using the site's messaging system.

The site is far from being a rip off site... It pays far more than Helium and other writing sites and better than most surveys sites ere...

I followed a link at that site and got on to the Pinecone Research website which gives you $3 per survey and that is not for purchasing or saying that you will try out anything... It is indeed a tell your opinion and get cash website. I also found out about Revolution Money and wound up getting $25 to join that, $5 of which I left on the Revolution Money Website. I know that I will find out about other good money making sites on myLot.com as well.

In addition to that, the site does provide some feeling of community for some shut ins, provides a safe place for those who need it to thrive, improves the English skills of posters from other countries, and for me did and does provide a good stress releaser and also a way to connect with a friend of mine who moved out of State.

As you can see, I highly recommend the site... for all of the things that I have mentioned.

It is a good site if you know how to use it.

It depends how you choose to define 'rip off'. If you feel that you were misinformed about the amount of revenue shared with members for the time spent, then I guess you can say that you were 'ripped off' by whoever led you to believe (as in YOUR OWN assumptions?) that it was worth the time spent.

Profit sharing with members is not uncommon on the Internet - most PTC sites work that way, for example, and there is at least one Paid To Search site http://tinyurl.com/4ggtv2 that does so very successfully. How does getting paid for searching that you do anyway rate in your definition of a 'rip off'?

It's true that a lot of people join MyLot with dollars glinting in their eyes. In fact, if you speak to most long-term members, you will find that the value of the site is not in how much you 'earn' by posting but by the useful contacts that can be made by joining the community. If you look at it that way, then (when done with discretion) you can think of it as being 'paid' to promote.

The Guidelines and Terms and Conditions are very complete and up-front. They don't say exactly how much you'll earn because the 'earnings algorithm' is complicated but anyone can verify that it is somewhere between $0.01 and $0.03 per post. MyLot is also a reliable and regular paying site, as I can vouch from 2 years experience.

I agree that, if you think only in terms of time spent, 15 cents an hour (or thereabouts) is not exactly riches, but when you consider that social networking is a very good way of promoting whatever you really do to make money online, it's not such a bad deal!

I have looked in many places on the web for money making opportunities. I have come across many scams as well as websites that don't pay well or have a high minimum payout. The best website I could find is mylot.com where you are paid to start and add to discussions. I have come across many scam websites so I have spent time to research this one. They pay in paypal, the minimum is 10 dollars to cash out, it is 100% free, it is virus free unlike some ptc's, there is no tax info needed, and it is also entertaining and not boring. The only thing I will tell you is that they update your earnings every 24 hours so it looks like you have 0 dollars for the first day. Look for reviews online or read the FAQ if you wish but I can assure you that it is the best you will find. It is a lot like a paid version of yahoo answers if you ask me. If you decide to sign up please use my referral link: http://www.mylot.com/?ref=mrpsychotic (you will make the same amount) Good luck!!

There is NOTHING wrong with myLot. They don't pay much, but anyone thinking they can make a living on any single one of these sites is living a delusion. I regularly get paid around $15/month, ALWAYS before the 15th set pay date. Some days I have only gotten $.03 and other days, $1.01. Sure, you can post a spit load of discussions or answer an equal number, but if all you use is one line questions and answers, you may find yourself with little to no payout (What is your favorite color?, What size shoe do you wear?, Yes - I agree with you, etc.) They want responses, not quickie answers.

There are some people on there who have taken it upon themselves to "police" myLot and rid it of anyone they deem to be a problem and that's the biggest problem I have seen - these self-appointed myLot police who claim to have administration's ear. Admin WILL delete any discussion that badmouths the host (just as your neighbor can remove you for badmouthing them inside their home) or discussions that attack or insult or show hatred for others.

Anyone claiming to do 500 posts in a day is most likely exaggerating as is anyone who claims to do 100 posts every day (or, as you state, they have no life outside myLot). They are probably also making money from their referrals. I have never had ANY referrals and still get around $15/month.

I have gotten to know some really great people on myLot and enjoy being there. I don't stay because of the money - I stay because of the people. The money is a bonus.

The "anonymous" poster who claims to have made over $200 in 2 months at myLot is full of it. Unless he has "ghost writers" doing some of his writing, that ain't gonna happen!!

I'm a happy member of Mylot. I know I won't get rich there, but it's a fun community and the petty cash is good.

I have been there well over a year, and make about 10 dollars a month. Not a lot of money, but I certainly do not put a hard effort into it either. It is not hard to make 10 dollars per month, and I dont think their guidelines are all that strict or difficult to follow. It is one of the few sites, and I mean few, that actually pay their members, every month on time, with no wait, need to buy referrals or upgrade.

They don't pay worth a shit. I can find 3 bucks under the cushions of my sofa. I go to mylot to promote my online businesses. I'm sure to be banned. Big deal. I'm not going to spend hours posting on forums for chunk change. Its not worth it.

I Joined mylot over a year ago after leaving yahoo answers, I contributed a few times and got a few refferals, of which only ONE posts regularly, HOWEVER, I checked my paypal account after 7 months of not checking it and LO_ and BEHOLD, Mylot had made deposits into my paypal account. I had not done anything for months on mylot. I transfrred the money to my regular checking account from paypal. I did nothing at all and I got money. I average between $6,00 to $12.00 a month, which is min. of $72.00 a year for doing NOTHING! Not a rip off at all.

At December 02, 2008 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I'm not sure how MyLot is a rip off when you don't pay them to join or post. They pay you. Ok you don't get rich, but they never promised that and the site is not meant to be a quit your job and work at home deal.

Honestly I wouldn't care if they paid me or not. I enjoy getting involved in the discussions and they sure are better than Yuwie where posters cheat you out of page views and you have to have a billion views just to get one darned penny.

The ones saying you got banned for no reason. Are you sure about that? Sometimes people don't think with their heads and don't see what they are doing wrong. Think back. There are rules to the site you may have broken.

Also people saying they didn't get paid, I suggest you go to MyLot and click on the "terms" link at the very bottom of the page. Read term # 16. There is something in there about not being able to pay certain countries due to regulations set up by OFAC. See if you are in that list.

At December 07, 2008 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I've been there since October 16th of 2006. I ain't ever gonna get rich there, but I have many interesting conversations, and I make a few pennies at it. I make the minimum payout almost every month, so I don't feel I'm being ripped off, especially since THEY ALWAYS PAY WHEN THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO. Not too many oyther sites can say that.

At December 14, 2008 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I have been a member of mylot for quite sometime and I know for a fact that it does pay. It also passes time and becomes a fun hobby. If it were a ripoff site then the administration would not respond to any concerns where mylot administration does immediately. The only way your discussion there would be deleted is if you didn't abide by their rules. Yeah so what there's some rules and regulations but what website doesn't have that? I have been paid by mylot many times. I think you're just unsatisfied with it because you found that nothing comes for free perhaps? So in conclusion, you have to put in sometime to earn and you won't get rich but it does pay and it's an honest site.

Dear user:
I'm not sure who you were referred by to the myLot website. It's a "pay to post" networking website. I never claim to my referrals that anyone can make "lots" of money in little time.

I'm not sure why you're calling it a "rip off". Of course there are OTHER things to do that could give you more money. However with people who love forums, or with people looking to make extra money it's a good website. It's not a scam, not a rip off. I have been with myLot since 2007 & I'm happy to post about the "other side" of things.

They pay you to post, they put money into your paypal account. I'm not sure how that's a ripoff or scam.

At January 11, 2009 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Let me tell you why mylot is a ripoff. I was a member of mylot up to last week and they banned me from there? Why? I'm not sure because I followed every single one of their stupid rules religiously.Maybe it was because I posted so much, I was very near to payout and I had only joined the site the same week.

A site doesn't only classify as a rip-off if it doesn't pay you. It can also classify as a rip-off if:

1. Their administration doesn't answer any one of your emails everytime you try to contact them. Think about it. Have you ever heard of anyone getting the mylot administration to reply to their emails?

2. The amount of work you're required to do to reach payout is nowhere near equated to the amount of money you get for each thing you're required to do. On mylot you're basically slaving to reach ten dollars. I remember posting and responding to discussions there which each earned me less than a cent. I'm so sorry, but I have earned a lot more in one day, than many of you people have earned in two months elsewhere. I also have a life to live, rather than spend eternity trying to reach just $100.

3. When the administration seems to ban people for no reason at all. Why don't you ask some of the older mylot posters where their older mylot friends are? I read a post a couple days ago and it said that most of the older mylot members were either banned or finally quit. As was mentioned before, I followed every single mylot rule AND made quality and intelligent posts. However, I was banned, and yet still there are people on the site who mylot does not ban even though they post racist, sexist, and homophobic discussions. Just about 2 days before I was banned I encountered a very racist post, and the mylot member is still active and posting other racist posts like that. How can I stay on a site which encourages things like that, and yet still, people like me who try to do good are banned for no reason? It's ridiculous, unless you also have no problem with it.

4. The site does not encourage good grammar and intelligent posting. My days on mylot were most of the time very painful. Why? Because of bad grammar, which as a previous poster said at times make your eyes bleed. I remember translating started discussions for some of the posters whose native language wasn't even English also. I remember having to read posts so many times which seemed like a bunch of jumbled English words without a verb. Do you know how annoying something like that can get? I don't even consider myself a grammar nazi, but too much of one bad thing gets to you...

There was also the lack of intelligent posts the mylot staff seem to have no problem with. I tried to make all of my posts, quality posts, not just silly questions such as "What is your favourite movie?" or "What's your favourite colour?" I tried to make posts which had people thinking. However, I kept noticing a wealth of the same silly questions being posted day after day. It was like the majority of mylot members had a very low IQ.

5. They give you no warnings before you are banned. As was mentioned I did not know, and I still don't know why I was banned from the site. I have absolutely no clue even though before and during the time I was a mylot user I went over the guidelines many many times. I was given no warnings before I was banned. I realised after I made a post one day that I just couldn't sign in anymore and couldn't contact the mylot administration either. I did my research on the net, and found that they had banned me and it was no problem on my part.

The morale of my story is "Don't join that site". It will steal your money, your time and your soul. You can join other sites and make a lot more money. I'm not sure about paid to post sites, but I reached the $50 payment at reviewstream in just two days. How long does it take you to reach $10 at mylot? At constantcontent.com even, you can sell your articles for $250 dollars too. Is mylot still worth it? Or do you now think it's a rip-off?

I have more fun on Yahoo Answers than I do there, and myspace, facebook and so on. I also have a LIFE so I can't post stuff all day everyday.

I have been in mylot for two years and I liked it being there compared to other PTP sites.

Mylot has clear guidelines and consistent moderators. You learn new things, meet new friends from other countries and you earn by your performance.

For those who want to join the site, they must read and understand the guidelines and faqs first before posting.

Rip off is quite harsh! Think of all the time spent on other forums such as myspace and facebook and they pay nothing. If you are joining mylot just for the money, then you will be disappointed. If on the otherhand, you want to earn some extra cash doing something you do all the time for FREE, then by all means join mylot. I have been a member for years and can testify they DO PAY and I dont spend all day posting. So where exactly is the ripoff?

At August 18, 2009 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

I join my lot last feb. 2009 and becomes active only during july to august. I already reach my payment form more than $25, but few days from now. I was not able to log in. I contact the support form. If they do not response and never explain the reasons. They got to be a scam site. I'll be back next week to report about my cases and also going to write it on my own blog.

I really have bad feelings about Mylot some good members are banned without reasons and yet the bad users remains, seems something is fishy..you could not really enjoy the site the freedom of expression is control and they banned members without warning. members could not log in and so is their cases fall to deaf ears from administrators.

How can you say myLot is a rip off???
They don't charge you anything to join and never ask for any money, so what are they ripping off from you???
I've been paid several time from them and have met many online friends.
If you want to have fun, meet people, and make a little pocket change, myLot is Great.
If you think it's going to be a source of income and are just worried about the money, you're going to be disappointed.
But they don't ask for anything, don't take anything so they are definitely not a rip off.
And if you can't follow some simple common sense guidelines/rules, you're a moron!

Hello there, you making a smart post since u know many mylotters will come to comment on your post. I dont think it is true about 500 post per $3. I am making my own investigation about earning potential there, just to give me rough estimation. And from what I discover so far, it far less than u mentioned (but i cant give u numbers in detail).

Now, I also encountered other PTP program, wrap in Forum. But eventhough some pay more, I still think myLot is best place to hang out.

So far, I never find fun and comfy place to earn, as fun and as comfy as myLot.

You should know, that there are a lot of interesting post at myLot. If you r focusing on that only, u realized how much you can learn and helping people by answering to their queries.

Btw, from the look of your blog, I bet u havent make a lot online. Perhaps less skeptical might help in your next endeavors.

I happen to 100% agree with you on the fact that mylot is a scam. In fact the place is run by a group of members that if they dont like you they will get your account banned. I am sorry but I will not kiss butt just to keep my account. If you dont kiss butt you lose your account. I had an account there, and robert67 and his click including Mysd, angrykitty, lamb, Thea, Darkjed1, cannette, and some others all bashed my star. They then had me banned when I didnt delete my account and leave because of the star bashing. They even made a post about it and were laughing about what they had done.

They dont care if some of us are sick and cant work so any extra cash we make online helps to pay bills. They only care about themselves. I lost in total to there click there over $30 cash, all of it in hard work. But they dont care at all, just as long as they can smile and have a good laugh about it.

I have never returned there, But I also have taken this to my local TV station and they have done an investigation. They themselves were banned for no reason other then they werent kissing butt. Its been on the local news already about the scam that this site is. Its a waste of time.

At March 25, 2010 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

Many members getting piss on myLot rules as you could read from everyday discussion some active members notice their star rating and reputation decreases which mean it fall to meant decreases in earning. Why myLot tolerate rating from other members? Simply it help them to have more profit the decrease in rating means they have less to pay.

I have test the strategy been posting for more than 30 discussion in a week then my star hardly change its color from 83 to 85 then few weeks it changes in a sudden drop of 78 when i am not rating others negative. they say in TOS your rate signify your participation and the way the community or the members rate your discussion as quality and yet i do post quality even landed many times in today and hot discussion having at least 3 of almost 6 of my discussion posted in a day includes in the digest. Do I earn big? Not at all.

I remember posting 6 discussion and I check my earning and only get $3. I reply almost not sleeping for whole night and that is what i get. I remember having a blue star before, i usually post more than 20 by replying to other discussion and i could get 80 cents to close to $1 per day i becomes active posting more than 15 hours but when they changes their payment schemes i notice when i becomes active instead of being promoted to the ranking I was demoted. I lost my interest on the site which i like before. The new layout is good and it helps but one things that never changes since 2006 the rating system totally sucks. Having a blue get good earning, red color almost 50% and yellow almost 1/4 reduce in earning. How could the member inspire by this kind of system. You could observe every weeks some members make rant about their rating and discussion being deleted with no reason at all. The more active you become, expect as usual per observation to have your star and reputation decrease rapidly after becoming active in posting. I have suspect of trolls still alive and why did the site conceited them, because the admin is the TROLLS itself..i am starting to felt sick even i have a brilliant mind i would not waste my time going there even though i have many friend it hurt and insulting to me I do try to be nice, polite and gentle yet do i felt rewarded???
Some experience if you like to earn a lot have to stay posting 24 hours applicable for all jobless and loners to earn which is true if you are always posting it also mean you are either unemployed, retirees or jobless which have no other sources of earning

I advice those who like to earn from their articles publish it in other writing sites being paid per view and you are protected from copyright which non-existence on myLot site. Even if others denied they are just in dire need of spare cash and it is pitiful people getting slave for a pennies if you get sick your earning there is not even enough to pay for your hospitalization. even if you get addicted they pay good at start once you become an older and active member you could just notice your earning becoming low instead. It is a time waster which is very true if you post daily...:)i post based on my experience honestly..Good thing they really pay the things I hate is the rating system should need to be more transparent!!!

At April 23, 2010 , Anonymous Anonymous said...

lol..mylot is now in a murky situation. they say they hate plagiarism it turn out they are the greatest plagiarizer. a discussion about them lying to all members they pay less yet they earn more publishing member contents in their lots of blog..what a shame???

I read this. I am a member of this site and I do not like their rate in paying their members. It is so low, but I like the site because it gives us lot of information from different countries and different cultures. For those people who are looking for the real money, I would not suggest myLot, but if you are very social and friendy, and wants to chat all day long, posting topic discussion and respond to it without thinking any money, and money is just a bonus, myLot is just for you.
